On the very first class I observed this year, my CT began Monday morning class by waiting for all students to arrive and be seated before she handed out the last weeks lab assignment. While handing back these labs 1 in about every 3 labs she would say something that the student did very well to the whole class. It clearly showed in those students faces that they were proud of what they did. Not long after my CT then recapped what they had been talking about in recent classes (what makes an organism alive). She asked the question to spark memory of what they had learned. After she got their attention she proceeded to describe what they would be doing that day and how it related. ( A lab on does milk dye and Clorox create a living organism). It was funny to see the students breaking down the process with observations and argue with each other on if the solution was alive or not.

The way my CT opened class I don't think could be any better. She waited for everyone to get settled, she spent minimal time handing back papers and giving out compliments to make students proud of their work while also showing that she was thoroughly reading their work. She started the days lesson with a question recapping what they had previously done, and finally she began the lesson that continued on from that question. I would like to be a teacher who accomplishes all these things in just 1 productive class periods time. It was flawless in my opinion and a fun way of learning followed. Another thing I really thought was cool that my CT did was how she ended the mini lab. Assigning them homework to make a neater more formal observation chart and also saying that she wants them to produce a conclusion as to why or why not the solution they made was an organism.
